Glimpses of Daniel's world

First!

Yeah! Finally made the jump and decided to start (again) easy in the world of blogging. I'm sure I started some blogs elsewhere, but I either forgot the passwords, exceeded some inactivity period or it must have been on a social networking site. This weekend I wanted to start a permanent web presence that I would keep up to date.

In one of the previous weekends I made some mock-ups for my grand plan. The plan was to have a place where I could blog, keep a kind of online backup of things I learned in a wiki-style format and then a place for long texts that don't fit in either category. Because I'm confronted on a (work)daily basis with software technology, questions like what framework or programming language to use started spinning in my head. Clashing and screaming seems a more appropriate way to describe it.

Suddenly I had an epiphany. I already use/have bits and pieces of the master plan available in proper places. I already had my personal wiki, which at least works and I don't have to worry about maintenance. Some photos are already on Flickr. What was left is a blog and some links to the other content. That should get me started and later on I will elaborate on that!

That's when I let my fingers fly and let them do what they have done so often before; type in keywords and urls like madness. To WP or not to WP? You already know I did, but first I had to convince myself to do the right thing. Just do get on with it!

The first step is always signing up. Step one part two is reading the terms of service. Once in a while doing that has it rewards. This time it brought a mixed emotion. Delight, happiness and disappointment rolled in one. Why? If you don't know then you didn't read it. Ok, guess I made you read it now. Feel my power! Hahaha!

Step two, well didn't get to that because to my surprise there was already a WordPress account linked to the email address I wanted to use. Strange because I don't remember it. It must have been a previous attempt and blogging where I didn't update often enough to keep the blog from "disappearing". There was an account, yet no blog, and now there are both.

Soon there will be more to read...
